Anime fans who own older Apple TV models will have to change boxes, or else settle for AirPlay. The Crunchyroll application has indeed announced the discontinuation of support for 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TVs.4th gen Apple TVs.and HD, and of course the 4K models remain compatible with the application and the service but be careful, you must use the latest version of the operating system (tvOS 15.6).It's not really a surprise, several applications developed for old Apple TVs – without access to an application store – have prepared people's minds.Like YouTube, which stopped working on these devices in March 2021. However, there is an alternative that is worth what it is, you can still use an iPhone or iPad and stream Crunchyroll content on the Apple TV (3rd gen only) with AirPlay.I don't care about crunchyroll, I'm a dna subscriber 🤣 and it's much better 👍With a little bit of DNS / VPN you still have the majority of the DNA and Wakanim catalog at Crunchy.I was subscribed as crunchyroll but frankly there is nothing crazy.DNA is simple, clear and precise. There's almost everything I want.No more needs.I was just subscribed to wakanim for SNK's S4 (final).Yes, you have to go to the USA region to really have a lot of content. In the USA they grabbed almost everything, even if they lost part of the cake with Netflix/Disney+/Prime.The problem I have with the French services is that they share things too much, so each service doesn't have much to offer. The usa service is huge but filled with emptiness.Nothing crazy too. It's a huge catalog but terribly empty in fact because that's crap. They mainly grab stews…no big licenses, nothing. It's shit.DNA is much better and they at least offer the vf on a lot of anime. And then apart from DNA, he no longer has French service.Wakanim being absorbed by crunchyroll. While crunchyroll, in addition to having a low-end catalog, offers almost only vocals...there's no point in having a huge catalog if it's 90% crap...dna it's less but much more interesting and hdg. It's kinda weird to say that Crunchy is full of crap and DNA is much better, whereas Crunchy has all the DNA anime pretty much lol.But suddenly I see that we have diametrically opposed tastes, personally I find that apart from 4 or 5 animes the DNA catalog without being bad, is close to average.Even if I find it a shame, I understand a little because I was the same when I was little. After all, I'm not here for people to go and subscribe to Crunchy, it's just that they have 3/4 of what comes out when you go to the USA region, and therefore they cover the catalogs of all other French services except Netflix/Disney+/Prime.I'm not criticizing those who prefer the VFs, but the original cast is still an integral part of the work, so it's a shame not to be able to enjoy 100% of what an anime can offer. It's a bit like cooking your food quickly in 30 minutes instead of simmering it quietly for 2 hours, the taste is not the same at all even though you are eating the same thing.I don't like to read anime.I am a dna subscriber only for One piece.I'm not saying that I only watch One Piece but it's clearly the license that made me subscribe as DNA which is also a French platform.Overall crunchyroll is not really interesting. It's mostly content that is there (and it shows) to have volume, mass but not quality anime. And then for me, the fluidity of the app, the simplicity etc… make the DNA is better and by far.Just read the reviews on the app store to be convinced.I don't need to read them because I connect to DNA every day and for years. And adn has also recently been offering Franco/Belgian cartoons, so that's a plus too.And all with a decreasing price 🙂👍In France alone Crunchyroll is Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Black Clover, Haikyu, Ranking of Kings, Spy x Family, Dr Stone to name a few names and they also have One Piece 🤣 it's a bit strong to say that the catalog is low-end 🤔Everything you mentioned also exists in the others except jujutsu kaisen. But DNA remains much better done.Much more fluid, simple, less clutter and the vf etc… that's what makes the difference. And I speak knowingly. One piece is also available on game one and in vf 🤣Does anyone have any feedback or even a comparison of the different animation platforms? It's a little white beanie and white beanie for me.I took Crunchyroll because it was on PS3-4-5 and Vita so good compatibility but otherwise the rest … Your expertise would be grateful to mehttps://gaming.gentside.com/mangas/adn-vs-wakanim-vs-crunchyroll-comparatif-des-platforms-svod-danime_art31824.htmlhttps://www.frandroid.com/android/applications/405531_quelles-sont-les-m...This is the most complete I have found so far.DNA being for me the best Franco-Belgian anime/cartoon app on the market.😉👍At the same time Crunchyroll has just swallowed Wakanim (catalogue transfer in progress) as well as Funimation (to create a single Crunchyroll entity, such is the will of Sony the new owner), on the other hand they have just divorced from ADNthe advantage is that the subscription via Apple TV remains at €4.99/month and 1 month free, while this same subscription via the iOS app is at €6.49/month, a good listener ;-)Even if it is a pity that some devices are no longer supported, we can still say that the Apple TV breaks a longevity record! It is still very fluid. The netflix app is much more practical than the one installed on other devices (TVos or ios).I bought one a few weeks ago on the good corner (10 euros) to put it in my kitchen.I watch Youtube in Airplay, and it works perfectly! When I see the longevity of this device in A5 (ipad 2 and iphone 4s processor), I tell myself that the apple TV 4 (A8) or the Apple TV 4k (A10x and A12), will surely last a eternity!YouTube, Netflix, Prime and company still work perfectly on my 2012 Samsung TV. (Well I still have the Apple TV 4 for a more modern experience)Great news too.On the other hand the advantage of the apple tv is also to connect tv or monitors which are not.In 2012 it was quite rare connected tv, right?Glad the systems are still working. In any case for the apple tv 3, in all cases it remains airplay to display apps.Apple TV in no way beats the longevity record of the NVIDIA Shield TV (already 4K from the first version in 2015 and which is always updated). No planned obsolescence at NVIDIA because they got it right from the start with the processor they needed.@fabian The Apple TV 4 "HD" was also released in 2015 and is always updated (TvOS 15.6 and soon TvOS16) like the 1st Nvidia Shield (currently Android TV 11).Hmmm there are more simulcasts on Crunchyroll in my eyesAhhhh 🤩 my first Apple TV first gen!!!Support the work of independent editorial staff.Join the largest French-speaking Apple community!Proudly published since 1999 by MacGeneration SARL.Online press service recognized by the CPPAP under the number 0127 W 94156.
